THE DESIGN

The focal pearl is a study in shifting color: lavender-pink on one side, gradually turning toward a bronzy green-gold sheen. Its natural wrinkles and irregular surface give it distinctive character. This unusual finish is sometimes described as an avocado sheen, or affectionately as “pond slime,” but its effect is richly lustrous rather than ordinary.

Labradorite, rhodolite garnet, vesuvianite and amethyst rondelles mingle with bronzy plum freshwater potato pearls along the strand. Tiny faceted gold beads separate the pearls and gemstones, while gold vermeil nuggets add warm metallic detail.

Above the pendant, a cluster of the same gemstones and cascading tiny silvery-grey freshwater pearls brings movement and texture. The pearls’ luster complements the labradorite’s blue flashes.
