THE DESIGN
These chandelier earrings are among the most intricate and time-consuming pieces ever created by Doolittle.
Each hand-forged sterling silver square form is wrapped three times over: first with yards and yards of fine silver wire, then with gleaming sterling chains secured with more fine silver wire, and finally with a border of tiny white freshwater seed pearls for a delicate, lacy edge that frames the entire piece.
At the center of each form sits a beautifully faceted moonstone chicklet, loaded with blue flash and glow — the kind of stone that seems to hold light from within.
Below, lavish clusters of luminous ivory freshwater pearls are wire-wrapped on handmade fine silver ball headpins, cascading down over sparkling faceted white topaz teardrop briolettes that catch and scatter light with every movement.
Total length with French ear wires: 2⅝ inches.
